"Council celebrates the 60th anniversary of the founding of the National Health Service, which was established on July 5th 1948.

Council recognises the huge importance of this institution to the people of Glasgow and the role that it has played through the years in providing health care free at the point of delivery for everyone, regardless of circumstance.

On this anniversary, Council joins in celebrating the achievements of the past 60 years and hopes that the ongoing and future initiatives of this Council on health matters compliment the tireless efforts of NHS staff in this city in providing health care to Glasgow's citizens."
(b)by Councillor George Roberts

"Glasgow City Council welcomes the comments by Councillor Steven Purcell acknowledging the right of the Scottish people to consider all options for the future governance of Scotland including the option of Independence. Council further welcomes Wendy Alexander MSP's belated U-turn on this subject. Therefore Council calls on the Westminster Labour Government:

(i) to accept the right of the Scottish people to decide their own future by way of a referendum; and

(ii) in the meantime, to return further powers to Scotland, including the setting up of a Scottish Oil Fund."
(c)by Councillor Kieran Wild

"The Council acknowledges its Annual Corporate Risk Management report that states that the impact of increasing Landfill Tax is likely to be catastrophic.

In order to reduce the amount of waste put into landfill the Council resolves to take the following actions:-

(1) to write a feature on landfill tax in the next edition of the Insider and Glasgow magazines;

(2) to highlight the cost of landfill tax on Glasgow City Council's websites;

(3) include in Council Tax mailings a leaflet explaining how much the Council is paying in Landfill Tax, inform them how they can reduce the waste they produce and how to make use of current recycling facilities."
(d)by Councillor Billy McAllister

"Council acknowledges the vital role played by the armed forces and the hardships faced by veterans, especially injured and disabled veterans, upon their return.

Council notes that the large majority of local authorities across Britain now provide a full disregard of War Disablement Pension and War Widow's Pension for Housing and Council Tax Benefit.

Council resolves to introduce a 100% disregard of War Disablement Pension and War Widow's Pension for Housing and Council Tax Benefit claims made by Glasgow citizens."
(e)by Councillor Patricia Gibson

"Glasgow City Council condemns the decision in Gordon Brown's last budget as Chancellor to abolish the lowest 10p rate of income tax which will disproportionately hit low earners; is concerned about the effect this will have on the hard working citizens of Glasgow who are on the lowest rates of pay."
(f)by Councillor Colin Deans

"Council welcomes the publication of the assessment by the Scottish Housing Regulator into Glasgow Housing Association: Second Stage Transfer Stock Valuation Study by Mazars LLP by the Communities and Sport Minister Stewart Maxwell and calls on all parties to the second stage transfer proposals to work together to meet the aspirations of tenants in a fair and reasonable manner."
